Metro Crenshaw / LAX Transit Corridor

J.L. Patterson & Associates, Inc. (JLP) is providing rail-related engineering services as a subconsultant for the Crenshaw/LAX Transit Corridor project.  The design team completed the Phase I - Advanced Conceptual Engineering and Phase II - Preliminary Engineering in 2012.  The project is a proposed 8.5-mile light rail line to connect the corridor with existing lines. The Crenshaw/LAX Transit Corridor Project will offer improved travel times, reliable transit service and access to the regional transit system. The project offers major connections to the Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), as well as links to the Metro Green Line, the Exposition Line and the countywide bus network. It will generally extend from the intersection of Exposition and Crenshaw boulevards to the Metro Green Line’s Aviation/LAX Station and I-105. The project has a cost of approximately $1.8 billion, with the majority of funding coming from Measure R.

JLP’s services include developing baseline and alternative Plan & Profile drawings, refinement of the vertical and horizontal alignment to minimize right-of-way impacts for at-grade, aerial, and underground track alignments, providing railroad coordination and flagging, preparation of California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) exhibits and applications, conducting field meetings for grade crossings, attending CPUC hearings, station platform layouts, compliance with Metro and applicable rail agency guidelines for track clearance, preparation of track charts, cross-sections, schematics, geometry tables, trackwork detail drawings and freight sheets, assistance with coordination of existing and proposed transit lines, development of trackwork specifications, review of systemwide elements, coordination with the other team members regarding utilities, architectural features, and structural elements, supplying progress reports, and providing on-site staffing and bid support services.
